FAQ

How much do portraits cost?

Prices vary depending on the size of the piece and number of subjects. The cost is calculated adding in material cost and an estimated number of hours to create a work of that size.

When do I pay for my portrait?

Your payment is due at time of ordering. If your work is not completed within 60 days (excepting if we have communicated) you will receive a full refund.

How long does it take?

Turn around time varies depending on the piece and availability. You are given a guarantee to have your portrait completed within 60 days of ordering.

How far in advance do I need to order a portrait if I have a deadline?

The sooner, the better. Usually 4-6 weeks will be enough before shipping is accounted for.

What if I decide to cancel my order?

Due to scheduling and cost of materials, you generally will not be refunded if you cancel after placing your order. IF work has yet to begin on your piece we MAY offer you credit or a partial refund.

Can you do multiple animals in one drawing?

It depends on your reference photos. Some photos work really well together and can make a great composition, but others do not; in which case I will suggest a set of coordinating separate pieces instead.

What kind of photos do you need?

The clearer the better. Watercolor and colored pencils is a very detailed combination, so the more detail that is visible in your photo, the more I can include in the drawing. The subject of the drawing will be at the exact same angle and positioning as it appears in your reference photo, so make sure to provide exactly what you want for the best result.

Can you make up details if my photo is low quality?

Generally, no. Photos of very low resolution or that are blurry do not make good reference for a detailed medium such as scratch board. If a low quality photo is the only thing available, as is the case with many memorial projects, email me to discuss options. Never say ever.

How do I frame it or display it?

I recommend professional framing with or without glass. Please be aware that the base medium is watercolor, and if placed in direct sunlight for a long period of time, the color will start to bleach. You can prevent this with museum glass during framing if you like, or avoid direct sunlight.

Will you draw humans?

Nope! Animals only please.

Can you make me a painting on a canvas, a pencil drawing, or any other medium?

Generally, no. I like my process and I like painting pets.

Who We Are

We are a passionate family team local to Willow Park, Texas.

Sarah

Our artist, Sarah, absolutely loves capturing the precious personalities of pets and prides herself in her attention to even the smallest detail.

When she isn't immortalizing furry friends in the art studio, she spends her time teaching high school art or hanging out with her two best friends, Milo the cat and her husband Tom.

Milo

After 20 years he still remains attached to Sarah's hip and begrudgingly accepts Tom into his home. Milo spends his days reaching his 18 hour sleep quota and during his free time he passionately solicits cuddles and treats.

His two favorite toys are never far, he ensures that his catnip carrot and stick remain cherished and well protected.

Tom

Tom helps out with the tech stuff and makes sure Sarah is properly supplied with candy and snacks. By day he is a web engineer and he occupies his free time with computer games and writing music.
